The Department

The Audit Manager position is within RBS Group Internal Audit, Group Functions Finance in The Netherlands. RBS GIA is the independent assurance function established within RBS Group and provides assurance to the Group Audit Committee and senior executive that the main business risks have been identified and that effective controls are in place to manage these risks.

RBS Group Internal Audit's roles are to:

  • Continuously assess how risks are being managed and controlled throughout the Group and report regularly to the Group Executive and Group Audit Committee on the results of these assessments
  • Influence the continuous development of the risk management and control process through sharing best practices
  • Group Internal Audits focus is on teamwork and getting things done, what makes RBS GIA a great place to work.


Your Role

As Audit Manager you determine the scope of the audit, how to carry it out, and the testing strategy, in conjunction with the Senior Audit Manager. You lead or participate in audits in line with Group Internal Audit Methodology within Finance in The Netherlands and abroad. The Audit Manager’s primary responsibility is to deliver individual audits as team leader. Audit Managers manage a team of auditors (generally 2-10) on a project basis but generally do not have line management responsibility. However, they do manage the quality of individuals’ work on the audit they are team leading and give team members performance feedback. They also pass feedback on to Senior Audit Managers for use in performance appraisals. The Audit Manager is expected to foster proactive and professional relationships with the business, providing robust and challenging insight on business risk and control processes.

The Finance department is responsible for the control and compliance with the finance processes in the Group, furthermore it is the custodian of the financial reporting framework (internal and external).

As an Audit Manager your activities will have an approximate time spent of:

  • Leading the audit team: 15%
  • Audit Preparation: 30%
  • Fieldwork: 25%
  • Reporting: 20%
  • Other activities: 10%


Your Profile

  • Bachelor / Master degree, preferably with postgraduate RA/RC or RO
  • Proven knowledge and experience as Audit Manager within a banking environment;
  • Proven knowledge of finance & Treasury processes within a banking environment;
  • Good communication skills and persuasiveness;
  • Good command of Dutch and English;
  • Experience of leading team projects;
  • Being able to work independently;
  • Able to work under pressure;
  • Flexible and willing to work internationally.
